Preview: Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival 2012

In just over a week I'll be making my first trip to the Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival on the beautiful Suffolk coast. On the Blog, I've been championing the joys of visiting our neighbouring county and sampling the amazing local produce on offer for a while (not to mention my many visits to the great range of good pubs and restaurants for eating and drinking out) so I jumped at the chance to spend a weekend in my favourite place, in foodie heaven! Here's a little taster of what's coming up...

The 2012 festival takes place on the weekend of 29th and 30th September with many fringe events taking place around the East Suffolk region until 14th October. The purpose of the festival is to celebrate, of course, the abundance of good local food and drink in the area. The setting for the festival is the beautiful coastal town of Aldeburgh and the nearby food, arts and crafts hub Snape Maltings - a unique venue and retail, restaurant and cafe complex overlooking the atmospheric River Alde. Food and drink producers will showcase the rich variety of local produce on offer, through stalls, workshops, cookery demonstrations and foodie activities... including lots of opportunities for tasting, I'm sure!

I was lucky enough to receive a little taster of what to expect at the festival this year and the line-up of workshops, talks and visiting chefs is delightfully delicious. I'm sharing a sneak preview of the festival highlights here but please do check back for my full report at the end of the month!...
